When asked “What is the main problem with your sunglasses while playing your favorite sport?”, the answers can be many.
Some may point to insufficient sun protection, while others may respond that the frame is too heavy. Still others will complain about sand and mud, which can be a real pain in the ass.
We have a lot of experience with “sunglasses troubles”. In a way, we like problems, because we love solving them . And, in fact, we have solved many of the above-mentioned inconveniences in our high-quality sunglasses.
Fogged up glasses: when you can't see clearly
One problem our R&D team is currently working on is fogging lenses . Yep, you probably know what we’re talking about. Because when your lenses are fogged up… well, that can be a big problem.
When your lenses are fogged up, to put it simply, the problem is that… you can’t see. And when, for example, you’re speeding along on your bike, perhaps in adverse weather conditions and on a winding path, being blinded even for just a few seconds can result in a bad accident .
We have always worked on this issue by trying to ensure proper ventilation for our sunglasses, so as to prevent the lenses from fogging up. And, to be honest, we have also done a good job.
But this time… well, let’s just say that this time we’ve found THE solution . Before we tell you more about our latest endeavor, though, let’s take a quick look at what causes fogging up lenses.
What causes sunglasses to fog up?
Basically, what causes your sunglasses lenses to fog up is your body. To be precise, the heat that comes from your body. And to be even more precise, the temperature difference between your body and the lenses .
When heat from your face reaches your sunglasses, the lower temperature causes the air to condense and fog up the lenses .
The problem is that during intense physical activity our bodies tend to heat up even more, making matters worse. Not to mention that when it's cold outside the lenses tend to be even colder.
Humidity is also part of the problem . When there is humidity in the air, water droplets form at a lower temperature difference and your glasses are more likely to fog up.
The solution: ventilation
Many solutions have been studied to solve this problem. The most effective consists in improving ventilation in the lenses or in the frame , thanks to particular designs or specific holes and ventilation systems of various kinds.
Adequate ventilation allows heat to pass through the lenses or frame, preventing temperature differences from causing the lens to fog up.
This is the approach we have been working on for the past few years, creating effective designs to increase airflow and prevent fogging. As mentioned above, we have done a great job. But “a great job,” for us at NRC, is not good enough. So...
A new anti-fog accessory
Our R&D team recently created a special anti-fog accessory designed to upgrade your X Series sunglasses , giving you even better airflow than before.
This anti-fog system will give you top performance in any weather condition . But we didn't want to improve some aspects, worsening others.
For this reason, our new accessory will not affect the comfort of your glasses in the slightest . That's why we worked so hard to make it super light, so you won't even notice it's there while you're wearing your sunglasses.
In addition, here at NRC we always love to combine performance and style (what can we do… we are Italian after all!). So we worked on the design so that it harmonizes perfectly with your sunglasses and also makes it an aesthetic accessory .
You will soon have the opportunity to purchase our new anti-fog system directly from our online shop or from our official retailers, to upgrade your sunglasses and reach new levels of performance.
Stay tuned if you want to see clearly!
